The abandonment and start of the cultivation area years ago, the reduction in production in neighboring countries, and the incessant varietal improvement that every day allows us to have fruit with more flavor on the shelves, suggests a certain optimism regarding the current situation.
This optimism is also reflected in the nurseries, as the case of Viveros Hernandorena, where they confirm the consolidation of species such as the nectarine and the Paraguayan. “The plantation of these two fruits remains ahead of other stone species, this is reflected in the demand for the plant,” says Rosa Hernandorena, commercial director of Viveros Hernandorena, adding that, in a second group, in terms of demand for plant, peach, apricot and plum would be placed, followed by pavias and platerinas.

In other words, the limitation that the farmer used to carry out in the field, we will carry out in the nursery, giving them a preformed plant, and therefore reducing the costs and time of this work on the farm ”, explains Rosa Hernandorena, indicating that this limitation it is carried out with a plant height of 50 cm, from which point the tree will begin to form its branches for the formation of the tree.

Without depending on third parties, they control the entire plant production system, being able to carry out the micrografting task for 10 months a year, and therefore with the capacity to supply plants throughout the year. “We can meet the demand of any fruit grower, quickly offering commercial plants for planting in the field in the shortest possible time,” argues the commercial director.
In addition to the production of the plant to order, they have an important stock, which thanks to the same traceability and the inventories updated daily, allows them to respond to any demand for the plant immediately.

But plant production techniques are just as important for the consolidation of a nursery, as the trust it generates in farmers. Today Viveros Hernandorena is synonymous with varietal reliability. The boom in breeders and varieties and the need to offer farmers new products, carries risks, many times derived from this haste. Minimizing health risks or varietal errors is the maxim of this nursery, which works only with those varietally reliable materials. “By varietal reliability we mean varietal authenticity, varietal health and varietal adaptability. Guarantees of all this what our clients will find in our plants, thanks to the maximum control of the mother plant, study in experimental and reference fields of varietal novelties and technical visits to the catalog field during the season for their knowledge on foot. field ”, confirms Rosa Hernandorena.
